Dr Irene Stafford started her educational career with a Master’s of Science in Microbiology and Molecular Medicine. Afterwards, she completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Louisiana State University, New Orleans. Her interest in perinatal medicine led to completion of a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal medicine at The University of Texas Southwestern. She is a core member of the Texas State Congenital Syphilis and HIV review board. She has been awarded several grants in the field of congenital syphilis including from the NIH and Bill Gates Foundation. She enjoys spending time with the medical students, residents, and fellows at the University of Texas Health Science Center, where she is the Associate Program Director for the Maternal-Fetal medicine fellowship.
